What is Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture?

Chinese Medicine is an independent medical system with unique diagnostic and treatment parameters that have evolved over 3000+ years. The multifaceted modalities of Oriental medicine include the prescription of herbal formulas, acupuncture, moxibustion, and traditional bodywork techniques such as shiatsu massage and cupping.

The Chinese medical approach often provides effective treatments for chronic diseases. In China, virtually any illness is considered treatable with Chinese medicine. Acupuncture is most commonly known for the treatment of acute and chronic pain management. It can also address a variety of other conditions including but not limited to: wellness, stress management, infertility, addictions, mental–emotional concerns, insomnia, PMS, infections, asthma, allergies, hypertension, gastrointestinal complaints, headaches, neurological diseases and morning sickness.

Dr. Allen’s Chinese medical training at NCNM in Portland, Oregon consists of six years and 2,000+ hours of academic and clinical training developed and taught by Chinese practitioners. Graduates are granted a Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine degree and must pass national board exams and achieve state licensure to become a licensed acupuncturist, LAc.
